Aria Grace Poel
On a personal note ... one month ago today, December 22, 2002, our daughter, Aria Grace, was born into the arms of God. She was 24 weeks gestation. The footprints you see are actual size. She was 1 lb. 6 oz. and 10 inches long. Needless to say it was a long Christmas and a rough last few months as we knew at 12 weeks due to a chromsomal abnormality and complications associated with it, that it was only a matter of time before she passed away.

Seth Godin has a new book: Purple Cow. You can only buy the book by the case. Yes, I'm serious. He's selling it that way so that you'll be forced to share 11 of them. Fast Company has an excerpt on the book. The lead in: Remarkably honest ideas ( and remarkably useful case studies ) about making and marketing remarkable products. It actually sounds like a pretty solid book. A lot of back-to-the-basics about marketing but points that a lot of companies seem to ignore. In short, the Purple Cow, Godin argues, is one of the new Ps of marketing. You know the Ps: product, pricing, promotion, positioning, publicity, packaging, and some of the new ones, pass along and permissionl. Anyway, read the whole excerpt and you'll that at the end you are given a chance to get a free copy of the book (you pay $5 for postage and handling). I ordered mine.

CNet News.com: Yahoo passes paid subscriber goal - That's not only a good sign for Yahoo, but also for paid content on the web. I know Yahoo got me to pay. I just finished my first season of Fantasy Football and I agreed to pony up a subscription fee of $7.95 for REAL-TIME stats (rather than wait for the stats to be updated the morning after). I think that's a good example of how they can make subscription money: lure the user in with a quality service and then upsell them on premium services (via Corante).
